Prescription Solutions, a leading pharmacy benefit management (PBM) organization and a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) company, has received several awards for customer service and its consumer Web site.
The company won a 2009 BEST Award from the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) in recognition of its Customer Advocacy initiative, becoming the first PBM in the nation to receive a BEST Award. Prescription Solutions also received two eHealthcare Leadership Awards and a MarCom Award for creative and functionality excellence on its recently redesigned Web site (www.prescriptionsolutions.com).

The training initiative, launched in 2008, features a more innovative, interactive curriculum, including participatory, hands-on activities, role-playing and simulations, all punctuated with enhanced video and other visual content. In addition, call monitoring quality guidelines were re-engineered to place additional emphasis on customer advocacy behaviors. Video segments provide training on coming system implementations as well as model caller experiences and customer-advocacy responses to real-life situations. Call Center agents are now known as “Customer Advocates.”
In conferring the award, ASTD noted that this commitment to a service culture extended throughout the Prescription Solutions enterprise.
Redesigned Prescription Solutions Web site Brings Home Awards
Prescription Solutions won two eHealthcare Leadership awards for the company’s consumer Web site, www.PrescriptionSolutions.com, which was redesigned in August with enhanced functionality, new and updated content, and simplified navigation. The Web site received a Gold award for “Best Overall Internet Site” and a Silver award for “Best eBusiness Site” in the Other Health Care Sites category.
The site makes prescription drug information more accessible and provides education that customers need to make informed health care choices. Customers can use the site to refill prescriptions, manage their account, review their benefits, and order over-the-counter items and medical supplies.
“Our Web site is one of the key ways we provide service to our customers, and we are committed to making their online experience as convenient and useful as possible so they can make informed decisions about their health care,” said William Mickle, senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Prescription Solutions.
The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program, sponsored by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, recognizes the best Web sites within a wide range of health care organizations, online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, health systems, hospitals and insurers. The 2009 competition included approximately 1,100 entries across all categories.
The Prescription Solutions consumer Web site also won a 2009 Gold MarCom award in the Writing / Web Copy category. The MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals. The awards critique a wide variety of print, visual and audio materials. This year’s competition had nearly 5,000 entries across all categories. The awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
