Genesis® Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq:GNSS), a world leader in the development of image processing technologies for flat-panel TVs, monitors, and other consumer display products, today announced that it has begun volume shipments to LG Electronics of its Douglas Digital TV controller to power LG’s new LCD and Plasma Digital TV platforms. LG’s Douglas-based designs include 50-inch Plasma HDTVs, model 50PG60XX and 42-inch LCD HDTVs, model 42LG60XX scheduled to be available in Europe beginning in February 2008.
Douglas offers superior 10-bit video quality processing, picture-in-picture channel processing, dual HDMI/HDCP 1.3a inputs, improved 3D Y/C TV decoder, and full DVB-T support. The combination of high system integration, reliability and a rich feature-set that incorporates support for all flat-panel display resolutions including full HD/1080p with the most advanced Faroudja video processing establishes a new bar for flat-panel displays.
