NYSSA Announces Final Four in 6th Annual Challenge

The New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) announced the four finalist teams for its 6th Annual Investment Research Challenge.

Student teams from Pace Universitys Lubin School of Business; Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick; Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University; and Fordham Universitys Graduate School of Business will present their research to a panel of senior Wall Street executives on April 9th.

The Challenge is an eight-month educational initiative in which leading industry professionals teach business and finance students best practices in researching and reporting on a publicly traded company.

Martin S. Fridson, CFA, president of FridsonVision LLC and publisher of Leverage World, is chairing the panel of experts. The other panelists are John J. Apruzzese, CFA, managing director at U.S. Trust; Steven Kent, CFA, managing director at Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Jack L. Rivkin, chief investment officer of Neuberger Berman; and Christina Rizopoulos Valauri, managing director and director of equity research, First Albany Capital.

The Gold Sponsor, EDGAR Online (Nasdaq: EDGR), is supplying students with access to its award winning I-Metrix product, a suite of interactive XBRL data applications and analytical tools that facilitate research. Reuters (Nasdaq: RTRSY) is also a Gold Sponsor and CFA Institute is a Silver Sponsor.

The field of eight top area business schools was narrowed down to the Final Four on the basis of written reports on subject company W.P. Carey & Co. LLC (NYSE: WPC), a leading global provider of long-term net lease financing for companies worldwide. These four will each have 10 minutes to convince the executives of the merits of the investment recommendations found in their written reports. The winner will be selected based on the combined scores of the written report and the presentation, and will be announced at the event on the evening of April 9th. To reach the finals, these four teams bested students from Baruch Colleges Zicklin School of Business; The Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University; NYU Stern School of Business; and The Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. Johns University.
