CHANGE OF SUPERVISORS

The board of directors (the “Board”) of China Telecom Corporation Limited (the “Company”) announces that due to his age, Mr. Mao Shejun has retired from his position as the Employee Representative Supervisor of the Company with effect from 19 August 2013. Mr. Mao has confirmed that he has no disagreement with the Board and the Supervisory Committee and did not have any matters in relation to his retirement that should be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the Company. The Board would like to express its sincere gratitude to Mr. Mao for his valuable contribution to the Company during his tenure of office. Meanwhile, Mr. Tang Qi has been elected by democratic election of the employees of the Company as a Supervisor of the Company representing the employees. His term of office commences from 19 August 2013 until the annual general meeting of the Company for the year 2013 to be held in the year 2014. The Company will enter into a service contract with Mr. Tang and the Supervisory Committee will determine Mr. Tang’s remuneration with reference to his duties, responsibilities, experience as well as current market conditions.

Mr. Tang Qi, aged 55, is an Employee Representative Supervisor of the Supervisory Committee of the Company. Mr. Tang is currently the Vice Chairman of the Labour Union of China Telecommunications Corporation and China Telecom Corporation Limited. Mr. Tang received a doctorate degree in business administration (DBA) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Mr. Tang served as the Director of the marketing department of the Posts and Telecommunications Administration of Shandong province, Manager of the marketing department of China Telecommunications Corporation, General Manager of China Telecom Shandong branch, General Manager of China Telecom Chongqing branch. Mr. Tang is a senior engineer and has extensive experience in operation and management in the telecommunications industry.

Save as disclosed in this announcement, Mr. Tang Qi did not hold any directorship in any other listed companies nor take up any post in any affiliated companies of the Company in the past three years, nor have any relationship with any other director, supervisor, senior management, substantial shareholder or controlling shareholder of the Company. Furthermore, Mr. Tang Qi does not have any equity interest in the Company within the meaning of Part XV of the Securities and Futures Ordinance of Hong Kong. Save as disclosed herein, there is no other information relating to the appointment of Mr. Tang Qi that shall be disclosed pursuant to Rule 13.51(2)(h) to (v) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited nor any matters which need to be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the Company.
