August 5, 2004. Mexico City. América Móvil, S.A. de C.V. understands that the price of its shares was affected yesterday allegedly as a result of rumors that América Móvil had acquired an interest in a telecommunications operator outside of Mexico.

América Móvil periodically analyzes opportunities to invest in other telecommunications companies outside Mexico. América Móvil has no other relevant information that would require disclosure under applicable regulations as of the date hereof.
