Item 8.01. Other Events.
 
On April 22, 2014, the independent directors of the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of General Electric Company (the “Company”) elected John J. Brennan to be the independent Lead Director and the Chairman of the Management Development & Compensation Committee, effective upon Ralph Larsen’s retirement from the Board at the Company’s 2014 annual meeting of shareowners on April 23, 2014.
