Item 8.01. Other Events.
On January 8, 2008, Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd (“Allied World”) issued a
press release announcing that, effective as of January 1, 2008, Mr. Scott Carmilani, Allied World’s
Chief Executive Officer, President and a member of its Board of Directors (the “Board”), was
appointed as Chairman of the Board, and that Mr. Bart Friedman, Deputy Chairman of the Board, was
appointed as its Lead Independent Director. Mr. Michael Morrison, Allied World’s former Chairman
of the Board, will continue to serve as a member of the Board.
A copy of the press release is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by
reference.
