ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS

On October 12, 2006, Office Depot, Inc. completed an acquisition of a controlling interest in AsiaEC, one of the largest dealers of office products and services in China. Office Depot had previously entered into an agreement for the acquisition in September, 2006.
