  On January 24, 2008, Synovus Financial Corp. (“Synovus”) issued a press release and will hold an investor call and webcast to disclose financial results for the year ended December 31, 2007. The press release and Supplemental Information for use at this investor call are attached hereto as Exhibits 99.1 and 99.2 and incorporated herein by reference.   On January 24, 2008, the Board of Directors of Synovus elected Philip W. Tomlinson to the Board of Directors. Mr. Tomlinson will serve as a director until the 2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mr. Tomlinson will stand for election by shareholders for a new term at the Annual Meeting.
