Item 5.02.    Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On February 26, 2016, SUPERVALU INC. (the “Company”) announced that Ritchie L. Casteel’s employment with the Company will terminate effective March 11, 2016. Mr. Casteel currently serves as the President of Save-A-Lot. At this time the Company does not intend to hire a replacement for Mr. Casteel’s position. Mr. Casteel will be eligible for severance benefits in accordance with the Supervalu Executive & Officer Severance Pay Plan, as described in the Company’s proxy statement for its 2015 annual meeting of stockholders.
