ISS, proxy firms sway mutual funds beyond votes

Proxy advisory firms have a “significant” influence in formulating the debate at large mutual funds over pay packages of top corporate executives and other governance matters, according to a new study examining the behind-the-scenes deliberations at 19 large mutual fund firms.
