Tom and Tony Cannon are former Silicon Valley programmers who, in 2011, turned to indie game making. They are launching a new game, called Stonehearth, that looks like a cross between Civilization, Minecraft, and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

The game allows you to build towns, fight other players, and even craft weapons and armor. The game is highly stylized – it looks like a more cartoony Minecraft – but it should be a hoot. Write the Cannons:

Starting from procedurally generated terrain with dynamic AI encounters, Stonehearth combines city sim and good old combat with infinite building possibilities. It’s built to be moddable at every level, from your city, to the people and creatures inhabiting the world, and will ship with the tools and documentation for you to add your own customizations to the game, and share them with friends.

You can fund the game for a mere $15 and get a free copy when it is released. You can play the beta for $30. You also get a cuddly kitten that will follow your players around the world as you begin your battles. They expect to ship the game in December 2013 if they hit their $120,000. I, personally, want the kitten to fight Cthulhu.
