The journey aimed to provide first hand Asian growth stories to the participants together with Asia specialists from UBS, external agencies and local entrepreneurs, and assist them with generating investment opportunities here in Asia.
Interactive discussions were carried out amongst business leaders from sectors such as banking, IT, health care, manufacturing and logistics as well as UBS professionals and other carefully selected guests, which included Mr. Raphael le Masne de Chermont, Executive Chairman of leading international luxury fashion brand, Shanghai Tang.
Mr. Derek Muhs, Vice Chairman of Health Care Management China (HCMC) was invited by Mr. Alain Robert, Vice Chairman of UBS to give a presentation during a gala dinner at theYongfoo Elite private club, located in the historical former French Concession in central Shanghai.
In his speech, Derek addressed the continuously rising market demand for quality health care services in China, and introduced the medical centers of HCMC - Health Care Management China Ltd. Derek also shared the challenges and growing pains of setting up foreign-invested green-field medical centers in the China market.
However, despite the challenges, the promising business outlook remains very positive in the health care sector.
McKinsey & Companyrecently said, “China remains one of the world’s most attractive health care markets and offers by far the largest growth opportunity of all the large emerging markets.” Mr. Muhs commented, “The health care market in China is in a state of reform. The opportunities for expansion in specialty health care services are tremendous.” The event concluded with a lively interactive discussion with the European delegation on exploring opportunities in the China market.
