The New York Times Launches Today’s Paper Web App

The New York Times (NYTimes.com) today launched a new Today’s Paper web application (app.nytimes.com/todayspaper) designed for optimal reading on tablet and desktop browsers.

Built with the latest HTML 5 technologies, this is the first responsive app developed for readers who value the regular schedule, structured composition and totality of the daily print edition.

“With Today’s Paper, readers who enjoy the serendipity of reading The New York Times in print can now enjoy that same rich experience on their tablet or Web browser,” said Jill Abramson, executive editor, The New York Times.

The app includes all sections, articles and photos found in the print edition, as well as some select video. Users can access editions from the previous seven days. The app features swipe- and scroll-friendly navigation; optimized, responsive designs for both portrait and landscape modes; and offline reading for a seamless, efficient reading experience.

“Soon after we launched our experimental Web App we discovered that Today’s Paper was one of the most popular sections,” said Denise Warren, executive vice president of digital products and services, The New York Times. “This new reading experience is the next step in our ongoing process to develop new and valuable digital products that offer our subscribers other innovative ways to access our content.”

The Today’s Paper app replaces The Times’s Web App for iPad, which launched as a beta product in September 2012.

The Today’s Paper app is available exclusively to NYTimes.com digital subscribers and to Times home delivery subscribers who link their account for digital access. Details and pricing for these plans are available at NYTimes.com/Access.
