‘Hobbit’ film turns in $73.7 million in receipts

Warner Bros.’s “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” brings in $73.7 million in box-office receipts in its debut weekend, less than its predecessor in the film series but not as low as some analysts feared.
