Digital River Hosts Monetization Day at the 2014 Game Developers Conference

Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ:DRIV), a leading global provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, will host and sponsor the Monetization Track at the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, Calif., on Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2014, beginning at 9:00 a.m. PDT in room West 3022 of the Moscone Center. The Monetization Track will kick off with a keynote presentation delivered by GamesBeat’s lead writer and a 25-year veteran of the games and technology industries, Dean Takahashi.

While Dean typically interviews business leaders about the future of the games industry, during his keynote, “10 Questions to Ask About the Future of Games,” he will make his own predictions and offer strategies to respond to the challenges facing today’s games industry. Dean will discuss how to properly “sunset” a free-to-play game; weigh in about whether or not the valuations of games companies make sense; and offer his insights about why he believes games is experiencing either a bubble or a golden age, among other topics.

“Enthusiast to casual gamers alike are consuming games at a breakneck pace, more so than at any other time in history. The key challenges in front of game publishers and developers are figuring out how to most effectively create awareness and demand as well as profitably monetize their games in an ever-changing global market,” said Jeff Hemenway, Digital River’s vice president of games. “During the Monetization Track, authorities from the game industry will discuss how they are addressing these very challenges and positioning their businesses for future success.”

In addition to Takahashi’s keynote, attendees of the Monetization Track will have an opportunity to hear panel discussions, which feature some of the most experienced game industry practitioners and strategists, about optimizing profitability and consumer experiences by mitigating fraud, driving engagement and generating more value of intellectual property beyond the game. The track is sponsored by Digital River and open to holders of registered 2014 GDC passes. There is no additional fee required to attend.
