Humana Expands Medicare Presence in New York

New Yorkers eligible for Medicare now have more choices for their health care options. Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies with more than 2.5 million Medicare members nationwide, has expanded its presence to include a new Senior Products executive team based in Manhattan, along with a selection of Medicare Advantage plans for Medicare-eligible individuals residing in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Nassau County.

Humana is offering several Medicare plan options, including the Humana Gold Plus HMO plan and three low-cost Prescription Drug Plans. The Humana Gold Plus HMO plan provides Medicare beneficiaries with affordable alternatives that allow members to receive all the benefits of original Medicare in addition to prescription drug coverage, affordable monthly premiums, coverage for office visits and annual physical exams, and membership in the popular SilverSneakers Fitness Program.

“We’re excited to increase our market presence here in New York City and are eager to help people with Medicare in downstate New York select a comprehensive plan that suits their health care needs and maximizes their health care dollars,” said Alexander Clague, Humana’s President for Senior Products in the Northeast Region. “By expanding our product offerings and wellness solutions, we are helping New Yorkers achieve lifelong well-being.”

Clague, who is based in the company’s new Manhattan offices, has 20 years of experience in Managed Care in both health plan and provider settings. Prior to joining Humana, he spent 17 years with UnitedHealthcare, most recently serving as the lead Medicare executive in the Northeast. He also worked for Phoenix House Foundation for two years as Vice President of Managed Care and Insurance.

Clague’s Manhattan-based Senior Products team includes Denise Smith, Vice President of Market Development, Northeast Region, who has more than 20 years of experience in health care management, and Lisa LaCarrubba-Blondin, M.D., a board certified family physician who serves as Regional Medical Director for the Northeast Region.

Humana’s Northeast Region MarketPoint sales team is led by Regional Vice President Frank Pistone, who is also based in Manhattan. His team includes Sales Director Scott Ushkowitz and certified sales associates located throughout the boroughs.

Humana's Medicare Advantage plans consistently achieve strong Medicare Stars quality ratings, which are compiled annually by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and can be found on www.medicare.gov.

Humana’s expansion to downstate New York has been approved by CMS. The main office is headquartered in Manhattan and supported by a MarketPoint sales and support office located in Uniondale, NY.

Humana Medicare Advantage is an alternative to original Medicare, not a supplement plan. For more information about enrolling in any Humana plans, visit www.humana-medicare.com or call toll-free (888) 486-0257.
