Fathom Events Names John Rubey as Company’s First CEO

Fathom Events, along with its owners, AMC Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: AMC), Cinemark Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CNK) and Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), are proud to announce the appointment of John Rubey as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 7, 2014. Rubey is the company’s first CEO after the recent restructuring established the company independently from National CineMedia. Rubey will also serve as a member on the board of directors.

“I’ve made my career in the entertainment event business and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity for Fathom Events. Theaters offer entertainers the opportunity to engage their fans all across the country, with spectacular sight and sound, and great consumer convenience,” said Rubey.

Rubey is a seasoned entertainment executive with more than 25 years of content and entertainment marketing experience. His most recent role has been President of AEG-TV and AEG Network LIVE, where he has served since 2000 and was responsible for the company’s vision, entertainment marketing, digital content development, and execution of the company’s strategic initiatives. AEG Network LIVE generated tens of millions of dollars in promotional media and net cash revenues by eventizing AEG companies, tours and venues with digital content and marketing.

Prior to AEG Network LIVE, Rubey founded and owned Spring Communications, a leader in pay-per-view concerts and events, and held the position of COO of PACE Management (now part of LIVE Nation) for more than six years prior to Spring Communications.

“We are thrilled to have John joining Fathom Events as CEO,” said Elizabeth Frank, chief programming and content officer at AMC Theatres. “His leadership and expertise will enable the Fathom business to build on its historic success and reach its full potential.”

“Alternative content is a tremendous business opportunity for theatre circuits, especially with the deployment of satellite content delivery systems, and we’re excited to have John at the helm of Fathom,” said Tim Warner, CEO of Cinemark.

“John is a well-respected entertainment executive who has great relationships with a variety of content providers,” said Ray Nutt, senior vice president of business relations for Regal Entertainment Group. “We look forward to John leading Fathom and bringing exciting content to the big screen.”
