AXA Reaches Out to Educators During National Retirement Planning Week®

Because teachers impart knowledge that eventually transforms the world, AXA, a leading financial protection company, this week is emphasizing the need to teach teachers about the importance of their own retirement planning and financial education.

Informational “teach-ins” on retirement planning for school employees are being hosted by AXA Advisors Financial Professionals this month at various locations. For online learning, AXA has compiled a suite of retirement planning resources, including articles of specific interest to educators that explain how 403(b) retirement plans work, tax considerations, why portability matters to today’s mobile teachers, and the advantages of starting early to save for tomorrow.

The effort is part of AXA’s observance of National Retirement Planning Week® 2014, April 7-11.

AXA is a member of the National Retirement Planning Coalition, a group of prominent education, consumer advocacy and financial services organizations spearheaded by the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). The IRI and the Coalition have worked to organize National Retirement Planning Week to help consumers focus on their financial needs in retirement. Again this year, AXA is a proud member of the Coalition.

“This is a week for people to focus on educating themselves to secure their financial futures,” said Kevin Molloy, senior executive director of AXA and head of AXA’s Employer-Sponsored business. “With over 3.6 million* strong, public and private school teachers are among the largest and best-educated workforces in the U.S., and because they are so influential and give so much of themselves, it is imperative to help them take the appropriate steps in order to achieve financial security once they have left the classroom.”

To support NRPW objectives, Nick Lane, head of AXA’s U.S. Life and Retirement business, will also blog on the IRI website about the importance of a plan for savings as people prepare for retirement.

Online retirement information, including materials specifically aimed at educators, is available on the company’s website.
