Violin Memory Announces Board Appointments

Violin Memory®, Inc., (NYSE:VMEM), a leading provider of all-flash storage arrays and appliances delivering application solutions for enterprises, today announced that Mr. Georges Antoun has been elected to its Board of Directors, effective June 6, 2014. In addition, Dr. Richard N. Nottenburg has been named as Chairman of the Board effective June 6, 2014. Current Chairman of the Board, Howard Bain III, and Board member, Jeff Newman, have stepped down.

Mr. Antoun is Chief Operating Officer of First Solar, a global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. Prior to his position at First Solar, Mr. Antoun was a Venture Partner at Technology Crossover Ventures, Head of Product Area IP and Broadband at Ericsson, and held various executive officer positions at Redback Networks, and Cisco Systems. In addition to his Board seat at Violin Memory, Mr. Antoun currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ruckus Wireless (NYSE:RKUS). He holds a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Louisiana, an M.S. in Information Systems from NYU Poly and an Executive Management degree from the Ericsson program at Columbia University.

Dr. Nottenburg is a management consultant and private investor working with technology companies in the semiconductor, software and wireless communications industries. He has been a member of the Violin Memory Board of Directors since February 2014 and currently serves on the Boards of Aeroflex Holding Corp. (NYSE:ARX), PMC-Sierra, Inc. (NASDAQ:PMCS), and Verint Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNT).
