Dr. Josh Reiter and Dr. Leigh Prescott pass highly sought after American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Certifications in Sports & Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
PRLog - Jun. 23, 2014 - TUCSON, Ariz. -- The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties certification program was formally established in 1979 to provide recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge and skills in a particular area of practice. As of 2013, only 227 Physical Therapists had obtained Board Certification in a Specialty in the state of Arizona. At this time, Bodycentral Physical Therapy in Tucson, Arizona employs 4 Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialists, 3 Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialists, and 2 Board Certified Women's Health Specialists.

Dr. Josh Reiter just became the newest Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist at Bodycentral Physical Therapy. Dr. Reiter works at the Ulimate Sports Asylum and heads the ACL prevention and return to sports programming. "I'm relieved and excited," Dr. Reiter exclaimed during the grand opening of the new Ultimate Sports Asylum location on Saturday, June 21st. As of 2013, there were only 14 Board Certified Sports Specialists in the entire state of Arizona.

Dr. Leigh Prescott is now a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist. She also passed her Sports Clinical Specialist exam in 2012, so she is among the few Physical Therapists in the entire United States with dual Specialty certification. Dr. Prescott is a mentor to younger Physical Therapists throughout the company. She exemplifies the core values at Bodycentral and leads by example as she manages the Swan Rd. Physical Therapy, Sports & Wellness Location. As of 2013, there were only 142 Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialists in the state of Arizona.

"This is quite an accomplishment for any Physical Therapist, " explained Dr. Jennifer Allen, co-founder of Bodycentral Physical Therapy. "Education is important to us at Bodycentral. It is our number one Core Value. We expect all of our Therapists to obtain Board Certification as a Specialist, and we provide the tools, mentorship, and educational money to get them there. We are excited to have 9 Board Specialty Certifications among our staff. This is outstanding. We are setting the new standard."

Dr. Tonya Bunner added, " We believe that excellence and passion drive the future of our profession. We are here to develop the next generation of Physical Therapists, and they should be better than their teachers when all is said and done. It is our responsibility as clinicians to improve the quality of care for the next generation of patients, and we believe we are doing that here at Bodycentral."

With Education being a Core Value, plans are underway for a Sports Residency Program at Bodycentral Physical Therapy. Physical Therapists that have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy school may apply to Residency programs with the ultimate goal of becoming Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialists.
