Thunderbird School of Global Management and Bluedrop Learning Networks Deliver on Commitment for Clinton Global Initiative

Thunderbird School of Global Management announced today the successful completion of its joint project with Bluedrop Learning Networks to develop and launch an online learning platform to assist Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) commitment-makers as they develop their CGI Commitments to Action. Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, CGI convenes global leaders to make “Commitments to Action” — new, specific, and measurable projects that address significant global challenges.

“Many of the most powerful Commitments to Action are the result of partnerships, with CGI members combining efforts to expand their impact,” said Kellie Kreiser, Executive Director, Thunderbird for Good. “We were able to leverage our world-class business curriculum with Bluedrop’s expertise in online learning to create this powerful tool that we hope will help other Clinton Global Initiative Members to create their own successful partnerships.”

Thunderbird and Bluedrop designed and launched a scalable online training resource to help CGI commitment-makers create and enact those commitments for the betterment of their communities. The online learning platform is designed to provide support to CGI members through the process required to create effective, meaningful, and measurable plans for their CGI Commitments to Action.

“CGI members are passionate about the challenges that face the world today, but it’s not always clear how to translate that passion into a game plan that delivers measurable results,” said Emad Rizkalla, founder and CEO of Bluedrop Learning Networks. “Together with Thunderbird School of Global Management, Bluedrop developed and launched an online skills training program that supports our fellow CGI members to transform their passion for change into real results in improving people’s lives for the better.”

Thunderbird and Bluedrop have collaborated on CGI commitments in the past, first taking the stage at the Annual Meeting in 2011 when Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc. announced their commitment to develop an online Spanish-language business training and certification program called DreamBuilder. Thunderbird for Good, the school’s social-impact initiative, leverages the school’s expertise in global business with the help of its world-class faculty to create the curriculum. Charged with implementing the DreamBuilder program, Thunderbird for Good relies on its experience training over 105,000 women from 25 countries. In 2013, the team joined former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on stage at CGI America when she announced Freeport-McMoRan’s newest commitment to develop an English version of DreamBuilder for North America. Thunderbird for Good and Bluedrop are working toward a fall launch of the newest version of DreamBuilder.

About the Clinton Global Initiative

Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an initiative of the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, convenes global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 150 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media. To date, members of the CGI community have made more than 2,800 Commitments to Action, which are already improving the lives of more than 430 million people in over 180 countries. When fully funded and implemented, these commitments will be valued at $103 billion.

CGI also convenes CGI America, a meeting focused on collaborative solutions to economic recovery in the United States, and CGI University (CGI U), which brings together undergraduate and graduate students to address pressing challenges in their communities and around the world.
