Time Warner Cable Begins ‘TWC Maxx’ Transformation in Austin Area to Enhance Customer Experience

Time Warner Cable (TWC) announced today an expansion of its ‘TWC Maxx’ initiative that will change the way customers in the Austin area enjoy the company’s products and services. Launched earlier this year in Los Angeles and New York City, the program focuses on upgrades to the company’s network to enhance the video and Internet experience, as well as improve overall customer satisfaction.

The Austin area has already begun receiving components of Maxx with complimentary Internet speed upgrades that started in June, with the fastest service level delivering download speeds up to 300 Megabits per second. TWC’s Business Services customers will also have access to the new faster speed plans. Additionally, TWC continues to build out its TWC WiFi® network in the greater Austin area and add more access points. Along with ultra-fast Internet speeds, Maxx includes state-of-the-art television services and best-in-class reliability.

“We’ve listened to our customers and continue to upgrade our network and improve service delivery to meet their expectations,” said Ike Wells, regional vice president of operations for Texas. “With Maxx, we’re looking forward to bringing all of our Austin area customers more ways to enjoy their TV and Internet services.”

NEW TV EXPERIENCE WITH MORE CONTENT, BETTER INTERFACES AND NAVIGATION

TWC will deliver Austin customers an “all-digital” TV lineup. A 100% digital lineup brings customers better picture and sound and frees up capacity in the network for additional channels, On Demand choices and new features.

As the Company introduces a new slate of next-generation video services in late 2014, customers will enjoy simplified navigation, more program information, a new On Demand portal and better search capability across its footprint. Additionally, Time Warner Cable will increase its On Demand library storage from 30,000 to nearly 75,000 hours.

TWC also will transform the TV experience in Austin by introducing the new Enhanced DVR, an advanced set-top box with the storage capacity for one Terabyte of content, equivalent to 150 hours of high definition (HD) programming. TWC customers will see their DVR storage increase two to six times more than their current DVR capabilities. The Enhanced DVR also comprises six tuners that provide the ability to simultaneously record up to six different programs.

INTERNET CUSTOMERS CONTINUE TO GET BIG SPEED BOOSTS

Customers who subscribe to any of the six Internet plans offered by TWC in Austin are receiving an increase in speeds at no additional cost, with customers experiencing speeds up to six times faster, depending on your current level of speed. By the end of this week, more than 52% of TWC Internet customers in the greater Austin area will have received free Internet speed upgrades.

Next week, the third round of Internet speed upgrades will be implemented in areas including San Marcos, Bastrop, the greater Lakeway area, and Central and North Austin neighborhoods including Crestview, Wooten, Renaissance Park, Northwest Hills, Arboretum area, Misting Falls, Millwood, North Burnet corridor, Windsor Hills, Lamplight Village, and Wells Branch. The remaining communities in the greater Austin area to receive speed upgrades will be deployed in September and October.

Some customers will need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to enjoy the full benefits of the speed increases, and they will be contacted by Time Warner Cable about their choices for receiving a new device. Communications to customers receiving the new speeds in August were delivered to homes this month. Customers can also visit www.twc.com/bettertwcmodem for more information about how to receive a new modem.

WIFI HOTSPOTS POPULAR WITH CUSTOMERS

All TWC Internet customers with Standard Internet or above and all Business Service customers have access to Time Warner Cable’s network of more than 2,500 TWC WiFi® hotspots in Austin and more than 250,000 TWC WiFi and Cable WiFi® hotspots in cities across the U.S. The hotspots can be located by using the free TWC WiFi Finder app. Time Warner Cable will continue to add hotspots in Austin and surrounding communities through 2014.

FASTER SPEEDS FOR TWC BUSINESS SERVICE CUSTOMERS

Time Warner Cable Business Services has also introduced speed plans of 100 x 10, 200 x 20 and 300 x 20 as new options in its portfolio. These new options will be available on the same schedule as the residential speed increases and will complement the existing tiers of Internet services available for businesses. TWC Business Services also offers a symmetrical fiber-based Internet service that delivers speeds of up to 10 x 10 gigabits per second for business customers.

ROCK-SOLID NETWORK RELIABILITY

As Time Warner Cable has committed to new network performance standards companywide, this initiative in the Austin area will include a stringent review and upgrade of every network connection site (referred to as hubs) to ensure optimum service levels are delivered to every neighborhood. Each TWC hub serves thousands of customers with phone, video and data services.
