Time Inc. Appoints Brian Lew Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions

Time Inc. today named Brian Lew Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions. In this newly-created position, Lew will lead a team that will advise senior management on corporate strategy, acquisitions, investments, and partnerships as well as manage the process for transactions. Lew will report to Jeff Bairstow, Time Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and assume his new role on September 2nd.

Lew joins the company from Time Warner Inc., where he served as Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions. In that position, he evaluated and executed strategic transactions across all of Time Warner’s businesses including in the areas of TV networks and production, publishing, sports rights, digital content creation and distribution, video games, and film. These transactions included the acquisitions of Bleacher Report, Alloy Entertainment, and the broadcast rights to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament as well as investments in Central European Media Enterprises. In addition, he worked on initiatives to realign Time Warner’s portfolio of businesses, including the spin-offs of Time Inc. and Time Warner Cable and Time Inc.’s divestiture of Time4 Media.

Prior to joining Time Warner in 2006, Lew served as a Vice President in investment banking for the Communications and Media Group at Lehman Brothers, where he advised media clients on mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions.

Lew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from New York University in Finance and Accounting. He began his career as an engineer at Teradyne, Inc. focused on electronic design automation (EDA). He went on to work for an EDA startup, CrossCheck Technology, Inc. and later for Mentor Graphics Corporation as a product marketing manager before shifting to investment banking.
