The completely redesigned Chrysler 200 has been designated as a Top Safety Pick + by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a brand new safety rating that shows just how much Chrysler is committed to ensuring the safety of their drivers. In order to be awarded the Top Safety Pick + rating, the 200 had to earn “good” scores in four of the five tests by the IIHS. In addition, an “average” rating must be achieved in their new small overlap test. A “good” rating was earned by the 2015 Chrysler 200 in all five of the IIHS’s tests for front small overlap, front moderate overlap, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats, handily earning the prized designation.
IIHS President Adrian Lund gave the Chrysler 200 high remarks, saying that the 200 “aced the challenging small overlap front test.” Lund added that “Chrysler should be commended for its forward collision warning.”
Some of the latest safety features aiding in the success of this Chrysler sedan throughout the IIHS testing include the forward collision warning system, side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control.
In the Midsize Moderately Priced Cars category, the 200 is the first of the 2015 models to earn this distinction. Looking back at the 2014 model year class of vehicles, there were seven automobiles that were labeled as being Top Safety Pick +.
The 2015 Chrysler 200, which is utilizing a different platform than previous models, has yet to undergo tests by the federal government, but it’s expected to earn better marks than the 2014 version.
