JPMorgan Chase Foundation Approves $50,000 Grant for Education at Work

Education at Work, Inc. (EAW) has recently received a $50,000 grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation to help EAW create jobs, retain top talent, and assist college students to graduate with less debt.

EAW Founder & CEO Dave Dougherty said the grant will be a tremendous help to further the mission. “We are thrilled to have the backing of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. This funding will allow us to continue growing as a company by providing financial support for our operations, enabling us to hire more college students and move towards financial stability,” said Dougherty.

Education at Work is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit organization that hires college students as part-time customer service agents with flexible hours, on-site training and career engagement guidance. EAW’s student-employees are eligible to earn up to $6,000 annually in tuition assistance on top of their base wages, if they maintain top grades while working. In addition to financial support, students learn first-hand responsibilities on the job, such as productivity, teamwork, commitment and accountability.

Education at Work provides great opportunities for college students in our region,” said Kevin Ward, Chase Western Ohio President, Middle Market Banking. “As one of Ohio’s largest employers, we know there is no substitute for work experience when we seek to hire great talent. EAW is helping our students gain that experience, and is also helping to keep our best and brightest in the region.”

The JPMorgan Chase Foundation works with community partners to create pathways to opportunity by supporting economic growth, workforce readiness, affordable housing and financial capability in the communities where they do business. In addition, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation focuses its efforts on financial competence and workforce development by supporting organizations that provide services to unemployed and/or underemployed people.
