Destination XL Group Inc. Turns to eBay Enterprise to Transform Stores into Fulfillment Centers

eBay Enterprise, an eBay Inc. company, today announced Destination XL Group Inc. (NASDAQ: DXLG), the largest multi-channel specialty retailer of big and tall men's apparel, has successfully implemented eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store in more than 100 stores. An eBay Enterprise Dropship Manager client since 2012, the combined solutions give DXLG more than 200 omnichannel fulfillment locations to expand product availability to its customers. According to the “The Forrester Wave™: Omnichannel Order Management, Q3 2014” report by Forrester Research, Inc., eBay Enterprise store fulfillment solutions stand out as a best-of-breed suite.

The cloud-based eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store module has been deployed across the Destination XL (DXL) and Rochester Clothing stores to provide more options and choices to DXLG’s diverse customer base. “Our new concept store, DXL, offers an upscale environment with more than 2,000 private label and name-brand styles to choose from, which gives our customers a unique blend of full wardrobe solutions not available at traditional retailers,” explained Chris Shortall, vice president, customer service at DXLG. “eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store enables us to make our online channel equally dynamic. We can easily offer customers inventory across all of our channels, which allows us to deliver a better shopping experience with more items, colors, and sizes regardless of where our customers shop. It’s the perfect solution.”

DXLG successfully deployed eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store in 90 days to more than 100 stores and continues to add stores monthly. According to Shortall, the program captures demand that may have otherwise been lost and reduces backorder and out-of-stock situations in the distribution center. In addition, the integration of store inventory with the online channel enables the sale of items at a faster rate, which results in fewer markdowns.

“It’s really all about delighting the customer,” said Shortall. “If we don’t have the item in our distribution center, customers don’t see that we are shipping from a store. They feel like we have what they want in stock for immediate purchase. eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store allows us to create the best customer experience including the fastest and most economical shipping.”

DXLG also utilizes eBay Enterprise Dropship Manager to automate order processing providing online visibility to available inventory. As a result, DXLG more than doubled its dropship network and decreased cancel rates for dropship items by 52 percent.

“DXLG is an excellent example of the positive direct impact omnichannel strategies have on customer satisfaction and loyalty,” stated Tobias Hartmann, vice president, client success, operations and international, eBay Enterprise. “Our Store Fulfillment Solutions focus on driving incremental revenue and creating a seamless customer experience while optimizing inventory, a retailer’s single highest overhead cost.”
