CHINESE INVENTORS LAUNCH INDIEGOGO FOR POCKET STORAGE SERVER

Shanghai, CHINA, SEP 12, 2014 – Photos. Videos. Music. Movies. Data files for these items can take up huge amounts of hard drive space. It is evident that they are a part of our lives and not going away, but storage servers can be bulky and don’t always work with all our devices. One team of Chinese inventors, Ray Xu and Gang Zhang, has come up with a solution, Wingblade. Wingblade is an open source pocket-sized storage solution that works with multiple devices at once over Wi-Fi or gigabit Ethernet and now the inventing team has launched an Indiegogo campaign to take their prototype through the manufacturing process and direct in to the hands of those with storage needs.

Wingblade is proud to be a part of the open source community and has created their design with that in mind. The Wingblade can be used as a Wi-Fi disk, a NAS station up to 2TB, a video surveillance server with computer vision, a private dropbox using Owncloud, a LAMP server, an XMBC station capable of decoding 2160p H.264 video, or even a TimeMachine backup device.

The inventors require the funds to make 300 printed circuit board pieces. Only when they purchase them in bundles of 300 will the price make the testing phase prior to manufacturing on full scale cost beneficial. Since the prototypes are now ready to enter the Beta testing phase, all those who do make an investment in this project will become Beta testers, receiving their very own Wingblade and allowing them to give direct input on hardware or software design prior to final shipping. They will also be entitled to receive significant discounts on product once it is available on market.

The inventors understand not everyone may be able to give money to help this project, so they ask that those who cannot give monetarily to help by spreading the word about Wingblade online through social media.
