CIM Group and AMC Theatres Bringing a New AMC Dine-in Theatres Location to Chicago at Block Thirty Seven

CIM Group and AMC Theatres announced today they have signed a lease to bring a new AMC Dine-in Theatre to Chicago at Block Thirty Seven, the five-story, 275,000-square-foot shopping, dining, and entertainment destination located at State and Randolph Streets in Chicago’s Loop. The all new AMC Dine-In Theatres at Block Thirty Seven will include 11 auditoriums, along with its signature MacGuffin’s Bar & Lounge in the Theatre lobby. It will occupy approximately 44,000 square feet on the fourth floor of Block Thirty Seven.

Scheduled to open by early 2016, AMC Dine-in Theatres at Block Thirty Seven will be the first AMC in Chicago to offer its premier Cinema Suites® experience, which is for adults at least 18 years old and features reserved seating in plush, power recliners with individual swivel tables for upscale in-theatre dining, as well as cocktails for guests who are 21 years and older. At the push-of-a-button, a server will arrive to take an order from the full menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts, and an array of cocktails, wine and beer as well as sodas and non-alcoholic specialty drinks.

“As the market leader in Chicago and the leader in guest experience, we’re thrilled to announce we’re bringing our guests the amazing AMC Dine-In Theatres concept, which will serve as a perfect complement to our other nearby popular AMC theatres,” said Mark McDonald, executive vice president of Development at AMC. “In addition to the AMC Dine-In Theatres at the Block Thirty Seven location, guests also have the option of our newly plush-recliner renovated AMC 600 N. Michigan 6 featuring the incredibly comfortable plush, power recliners and MacGuffins Bar, as well as the always popular AMC River East 21.”

Securing this top cinema concept for Block Thirty Seven was a significant component in CIM’s long-range program to enhance the mix of offerings that appeal to area workers, residents and visitors. Earlier this year, CIM announced that it had signed two new restaurant concepts to Block Thirty Seven – a 22,000-square-foot sophisticated casual multi-concept dining hall to be created by Richard Sandoval Restaurants on the third floor; and a new 5,000-square-foot restaurant and bar concept from the Lawless Family, which is well-known for their other prominent Chicago restaurants, The Gage and Henri, on the ground floor at the corner of Randolph and Dearborn Streets.

Block Thirty Seven features an array of retail tenants such as Anthropologie, Sephora, Disney, Eileen Fisher, and Zara as well as fast-casual dining on its lower levels. It is located directly across the street from Macy’s State Street, the second largest department store in the nation. It is also in the heart of Chicago’s State Street retail corridor, which attracts millions of local customers and tourists annually.

CIM is also underway with the construction of the 34-story, 690-unit apartment tower above Block Thirty Seven. Positioned on the northern portion of the block, the tower will offer sweeping city views, a fifth-floor amenity deck including an outdoor pool and spa, a rooftop spa and fitness center, and other top-tier resident amenities and services.

CIM identified the Chicago Loop as a community possessing the attributes that fit CIM’s longstanding investment model that focuses on urban districts positioned for economic expansion with solid infrastructure and transportation networks.

AMC is set to open its first AMC Dine-In Theatres in the Chicago area in December when renovations at AMC Yorktown in Lombard, Illinois, are complete. AMC Yorktown 18 will feature the AMC Red Kitchen concept.
