OSHA Training Services Inc. Expands Library of Free Online OSHA Training Tutorials

By: PRLog
Previous OSHA training tutorials produced by the company have been used by public and private employers of all sizes to train hundreds of thousands of employees across the United States - for free!
PRLog - Oct. 7, 2014 - ARLINGTON, Texas -- When OSHA Training Services Inc. posted three free online OSHA training tutorials on their website last year, they expected a few smaller-sized employers might utilize them to train some of their workers. But what happened instead was beyond their wildest expectations. These online tutorials were accessed over 325,000 times to train hundreds of thousands of employees across the country on key OSHA topics, all for free.

"We got hundreds of calls and emails from employers wanting to know if there was some sort of catch to using our free OSHA training tutorials," says Curtis Chambers, President of OSHA Training Services Inc. "And the calls were not just from smaller sized mom-and-pop businesses like we expected, they also came from many public agencies and very large corporations with thousands of employees to train. In fact, we even got requests from within Federal OSHA wanting to know if they could use our free tutorials to train some of their own employees!” Mr. Chambers goes on to explain, “Employers just could not believe that OSHA training tutorials of such high quality were available for them to use for free. So due to the overwhelmingly positive response we got from posting these free tutorials, we decided to add a few more of them to our library."

The first one of the new free online OSHA training tutorials was recently posted on the OSHA Training Services website, and is titled "Portable Abrasive Wheel Grinders". This newest tutorial addresses the most commonly cited OSHA standards related to the use of right-angle head grinders, which are heavily used throughout the manufacturing and construction industries. While all of the free OSHA training tutorials offered on the website must be supplemented with any equipment or site-specific information that may be necessary to fulfill OSHA requirements and manufacturer's recommendations, they are intended to provide a solid foundation on the safety topics covered.

When asked why his company was providing these free online OSHA training tutorials for use by employers to train their workers, Curtis Chambers explained: “In 2012 OSHA updated their hazard communication standard to incorporate the globally harmonized system of classification and labelling of hazardous chemicals, also known as GHS. This revised standard affected practically every employer in the United States. So as way of giving a little something back to our loyal customers who have been so good to us, we put together a couple of tutorials to address the new GHS labeling system and the new GHS  format for safety data sheets (SDS), and provided them for our customers to use for free. Later we decided to post these two tutorials on our website so other employers could also use them for free. These were so well received that we soon posted another free tutorial on how to identify confined spaces. This particular topic was selected because I find there is a lot of confusion about OSHA's complex permit-required confined space entry standard when we conduct mock-OSHA inspections for clients across the country."

The online OSHA training tutorials, which function much like a standard safety video or DVD, may be accessed by an individual user via the course player located on the oshatraining.com website. These free tutorials can also be used to train a group of employees by projecting them onto a large screen or viewing them on a large display television screen. These tutorials are narrated, so users will also need to utilize speakers (internal or external) or earbuds so they can hear. Employers may also want to document the training they provide their workers, and should therefor refer to applicable OSHA training regulations for documentation requirements.

The company currently plans to add several more free OSHA training tutorials over the next few months. Employers can monitor OSHA Training Service's website for future releases of new tutorials, or they can receive advanced notification and early access to new tutorials via the company's Facebook page or by following them on Twitter (@OSHA_Training).
