The private preview will feature racing speed “Hot Laps” rides for select local media members sponsored by Jaguar and Porsche of Hilton Head
PRLog - Oct. 15, 2014 - HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Local media will have the chance to preview the Savannah Speed Classic on Thursday, October 23 at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa on Hutchinson Island. Hosted by the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance, the event will provide a behind-the-scenes tour of the track events along with the opportunity to interview special guests and enjoy “Hot Laps” rides at race speeds in high-performance Porsche sports cars. This media event is sponsored by Jaguar and Porsche of Hilton Head, two premier Lowcountry dealerships located in the New River Auto Mall.
The preview will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on October 23; members of the local media must arrive and check-in by 11 a.m. to participate in the “Hot Laps” rides, however.
Immediately following the “Hot Laps,” the media will have the opportunity to meet and interview the 2014 Speed Classic’s special guests, including Indianapolis 500 Champion Bobby Rahal, famed racer and General Manager of Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd. (HSR) James Redman, Motoring Festival President Carolyn Vanagel, and manager of the Savannah Speed Classic and former member of the Sharp-Newman Racing Team Bob Craig.
After the interviews, James Redman will conduct a behind-the-scenes tour of the pit/paddock area.
The Savannah Speed Classic, October 24 through 26, will be the opening event of the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance, one of the premier automotive events in the nation.
A sold-out crowd is expected to watch nearly 150 racers compete during the thrilling three-day Speed Classic event. Along with the “Hot Laps” and special exhibits from sponsors Jaguar and Porsche of Hilton Head, attendees may also enjoy displays from Cirrus Aircraft, JC Pontoon Boats, Lotus, and others. An expanded kick-off party in historic Ellis Square is also on the schedule; this event will be a new highlight for this year and will take place at Savannah's City Market from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 23.
The Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance runs from October 24 to 26 and November 1 to 2 at venues in both Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC.
