PRLog - Oct. 16, 2014 - ORLANDO, Fla. -- CNS Healthcare of Orlando received flu vaccines this week to initiate vaccinations for a national study of a new 4-in-1 or quadrivalent influenza vaccine for children ages 6 months to 5 years of age.  The new formulation and adjuvant delivery mechanism hopes to boost the immune response for children who may not respond as well to a traditional trivalent vaccine.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), influenza ("the flu") is more dangerous than the common cold for children. Each year, many children get sick with seasonal influenza; some of those illnesses result in death. The CDC is now recommending children 6 months of age and up receive the flu vaccine. “Our team at CNS Healthcare is excited to take part in a clinical trial testing the efficacy of a new vaccine to prevent the flu in infants and children older than 6 months but not yet 6 years-of-age. The study treatment is designed to prevent against both A and B strains and against future diseases.” stated Michael Dever, M.D., the study’s physician and Principal Investigator.
