Pandora Hires Chris Phillips as Chief Product Officer

Pandora (NYSE: P), the leading internet radio service, today announced that Chris Phillips has been named Chief Product Officer and will serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team. Phillips and the product team will be responsible for defining and leading Pandora’s overarching product strategy and roadmap. He will partner with CTO Chris Martin and the technology team to develop products that deliver value to listeners, advertisers and artists. As Chief Product Officer, Phillips’ specific functional areas of responsibility include product management, product design and product analytics.

Phillips comes to Pandora from Amazon.com where he was Director of Product Management and User Experience for Amazon Digital Music.

In this role, he was responsible for the product strategy, roadmap and delivery of customer experiences across mobile, tablet, web, desktop, automotive, and home platforms. Most recently, Philips led the launch of Amazon Prime Music.

Prior to Amazon, he led the Apple QuickBooks business at Intuit as Director, Apple QuickBooks Product Management, Marketing and User Experience. Also at Intuit, Phillips led product and design for the Intuit Global Business Division. Phillips has also held roles at Workspeed and Accenture.

“With extensive product experience in global roles in companies at significant scale, Chris will be a great addition to Pandora’s Executive Leadership Team,” said Brian McAndrews, Pandora’s CEO, President and Chairman. “I’m more confident than ever we have the right leaders and experience in place to ensure Pandora’s growth now and well into the future.”

The addition of Phillips to Pandora’s Executive Leadership Team rounds out a year of executive hires who bring significant operating experience with large companies. In addition to Phillips, last February two key additions included Chief Strategy Officer Sara Clemens (Xbox, LinkedIn) and Chief Human Resources Officer Kristen Robinson (Yahoo). Then, in June, David Gerbitz (Microsoft, Yahoo) was hired to lead Pandora’s Revenue Operations team, which includes Sales Operations, Pricing & Yield Management and Advertising Operations. Finally, just last week, Steve Bené (Electronic Arts) was appointed General Counsel.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Pandora,” said Phillips. “They have already built an unparalleled experience for listeners, advertisers and artists, and I couldn’t be more bullish on the opportunities ahead.”
