Vitesse CTO Joins Speaker Lineup at 2015 MEF Seminar Series

Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: VTSS), a leading provider of IC solutions to advance "Ethernet Everywhere" in Carrier, Enterprise and Internet of Things (IoT) networks, announced that Martin Nuss, chief technology officer at Vitesse, will present at the first of the new 2015 MEF seminar series focused on assembling local and global perspectives on Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) as a network service deployment model.

Dr. Nuss will give the “CE 2.0 for Macro and Small Cell Backhaul” session in Seoul, South Korea on December 10, 2014 at 1:20 pm local time. Session topics include MEF specifications for mobile backhaul such as synchronization, resiliency, optimization with CE 2.0 multiple classes of service (multi-CoS), and other critical elements for 4G/LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) deployment. Dr. Nuss will also cover how CE 2.0 can be used for fixed/mobile convergence and discuss support and developments for small cells within current and upcoming MEF specifications.

Gathering thought leaders and experts across the Ethernet community, the new seminar series will feature an in-depth look at CE 2.0 services, wholesale access services, service management and operations and applications within the context of software-defined networking (SDN), cloud and mobile backhaul optimization. Also central to the series will be the latest on MEF’s Third Network initiative.

“We are delighted that Martin Nuss will share his insights and expertise on best practices for CE 2.0 in mobile backhaul,” commented Kevin Vachon, COO of the MEF. “Our goal is to drive industry-wide consensus and standardization to enable the agile, assured and orchestrated services network that we envision with MEF’s Third Network.”

With over 20 years of technical and management experience, Dr. Nuss is a recognized industry expert in Ethernet technology including timing and synchronization for public and private communications networks. He serves on the board of directors for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and is a fellow of the Optical Society of America and IEEE member. Dr. Nuss holds a doctorate in applied physics from the Technical University in Munich, Germany.

About the MEF

The MEF is the defining body and driving force behind the global market for Carrier Ethernet. MEF’s flagship work is CE 2.0, including specifications, operational frameworks, and certification programs for services, equipment and professionals (MEF-CECP 2.0). An industry alliance consisting of more than 225 member organizations, the MEF operates through a powerful collaborative framework of service providers, network solutions suppliers to achieve its CE 2.0 development and globalization objectives.

Building on thirteen years of success and widespread adoption of CE 2.0, MEF is now focused on defining Lifecycle Service Orchestration with APIs for existing network, NFV and SDN implementations enabling Agile, Assured and Orchestrated Network as a Service.
