Xingtera Demonstrates Interoperable G.hn Solution to Deliver Gigabit Broadband Service on Phoneline Media

Xingtera, an innovation leader in delivering home and access networking solutions today announced that its Taurus XT1200 G.hn chipset has successfully achieved interoperability with Marvell’s innovative G.now™ platforms for gigabit broadband access over existing phone lines.

The XT1200 chipset is Xingtera´s most advanced solution for gigabit networking over existing wiring. The XT1200 enables system vendors to build high-performance networking products that can deliver gigabit broadband service over power lines, coaxial cable and phone lines. The XT1200 is compliant with ITU-T Recommendations G.9960/9961/9962/9963/9964 and supports RF operation over coaxial cable.

G.hn is an ITU standard that enables gigabit communication over existing wires, combining the ubiquity of wireless networking with the reliability and robustness of wired connections. G.hn is being used by service providers for both home networking and broadband access applications, providing a low cost migration path for carriers who need to upgrade their legacy xDSL networks in order to meet growing bandwidth demands from their subscribers.

Marvell’s G.now™ is a family of hardware and software platforms that combines Marvell G.hn technology with Passive Optical Networks (GPON and EPON) transceivers and 10-Gigabit Ethernet products to enable Service Providers to deliver gigabit broadband service over existing phone lines.

Xingtera’s G.hn solution based on Taurus XT1200 can plug and play with the G.now™ platforms, Marvell award-winning HomeGrid Forum-certified family of G.hn chipsets to provide FTTH class Gigabit broadband access to multi-dwelling unit (MDU) buildings over existing phone wiring. We will be demonstrating the interoperability of Marvell G.now™ and Xingtera CPE device at HomeGrid Forum Booth (#21624, South Hall 1, Ground Level, LVCC).

The demonstration illustrates that G.hn technology designed to work across Coax, Power-line, and Phone-line media natively is ideal for home network as well as access network, surpassing the existing and planned solutions for those applications.

“G.hn availability intersects the market at a time where end customers need more bandwidth and service providers need innovative solutions,” said Yuqing Niu, CEO, Xingtera. “Xingtera, a key contributor to the ITU-T and Home Grid Forum, allows customers to expand their xDSL network utilizing the readily available G.hn products for superior performance and robustness to the customer premise equipment.”

G.hn phoneline Key Features Highlights:

  • Configurable uplink/downlink ratio (symmetric and asymmetric)
  • Advanced FEC (Forward Error Correction) mechanism in LDPC
  • Automatic retransmission to ensure zero packet loss
  • Advanced NDIM technology for interference mitigation in MDUs with high density of users
  • Automatic mitigation of Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) and Far-End Crosstalk (FEXT) between copper wires in a bundle
