McKee Homes celebrated with the Legacy Lakes community as it broke ground on a new home built at-cost for wounded North Carolina-native veteran.

Together with HelpingAHero.org and Mountain Real Estate Capital, McKee Homes broke ground in their Legacy Lakes community in Aberdeen, N.C. The event was attended by Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, Aberdeen MayorRobert Farrell, and many active service personnel as well as representatives from Helping a Hero, Mountain Real Estate Capital and McKee Homes.
Having grown up in several foster homes in Eastern North Carolina, Rivenbark entered the Army in 2009 as an Airborne Infantryman stationed at Fort Bragg. He was deployed to Afghanistan twice, the second time during which he suffered debilitating injuries to his knees and legs. After rehabilitation at Walter ReedArmy Medical Center, Womack Army Medical Centerand Center for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center, Sgt. Rivenbarknow utilizes IDEO orthotic braces, crutches, a cane and a wheelchair for his daily mobility.
