Abstract Expressionist Jess Black is preparing to debut his latest collection at a pop up gallery on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles on March 15. The show, "Fleeting Moments In Between" is an exploration of the artist's belief that memories, good and bad, are comprised of fleeting moments surrounded by neutral, unremarkable passages of time.
PRLog - Feb. 24, 2015 - LOS ANGELES -- Abstract and Neo Expressionist Jess Black is completing his last few paintings for a 14-piece show in Los Angeles titled "Fleeting Moments In Between." The public exhibition will be in Los Angeles at 7303 Melrose Avenue on Sunday, March 15.
On March 14, VIP collectors and media will be invited to attend a private reception from 6-9pm where Black will unveil 14 new works of art. About this collection Black states, "I've been thinking a lot about how so much of our human experience is made up of small moments. Some fleeting moment surrounded by neutrality may resonate so strongly with us that we recall an entire experience from that perspective. Each person's truth will be different. I wanted to create an entire collection of those brief, fleeting moments."
Jess Black garnered attention in 2012 when he released an entire collection of work based upon his experience being raised a Jehovah's Witness and his subsequent abandonment of the religion. Black explains, "I paint what I need to paint at that moment. In 2012 it was important for me to purge the remnants of how that religion affected me. Right now I am fascinated by individual truths and finding a way to hold on to those tiny experiences that create vivid memories."
