TRAVERSE CITY, MI / ACCESSWIRE / March 11, 2015 / Versus Technology, Inc., in partnership with Ronco Specialized Systems, continue to implement the Advantages(TM) patient flow system to help improve the patient experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Deployment is currently planned for the MSK Urgent Care Center after successful implementations at two outpatient clinics.
The Versus Real-time Locating System (RTLS) was first implemented for patient flow in one of the hospital's Upper East Side outpatient facilities in June 2014. The system was later implemented at MSK West Harrison, an outpatient facility in Westchester County (NY), in October 2014.
Advantages(TM) Clinic offers MSK specific workflow automation for oncology care, including the ability to monitor workflow at the chair level. Combining RTLS location information with an advanced workflow engine, the system automates several aspects of the patient visit.
Patient check-in is automated through an integration with Epic Cadence. The same integration also allows all caregivers to see, at a glance, the patient's entire schedule for the day, so no part of their visit is missed.
When the patient arrives, automated alerts are sent to both phlebotomy and the patient's care team, allowing them to immediately begin making preparations.
Dynamic room assignment is enabled through automatic monitoring and communication of room availability, helping to improve room turnover times and further expedite patient flow.
Versus also integrates to TVRC's pCare Interactive Patient System at the MSK clinics. When a caregiver enters a consultation or chemotherapy room, their name and job function automatically appear on the in-room television.
Beyond using real-time data to improve patient care in the moment, the Versus Reports Plus(TM) Analytics software allows Memorial Sloan Kettering to analyze trends in the patient experience, such as overall wait times and visit times; compare operational performance against benchmarks; and optimize resource utilization.
The upcoming deployment at MSK's Urgent Care Center will feature similar patient flow automation, taking advantage of Versus' experience with workflow process improvement for emergency departments.
