Ann Profit Beats Estimates, But Sales Fall Short

Ann Inc. , owner of Ann Taylor and LOFT women's apparel chains, said Friday it had net income of $13.5 million, or 29 cents a share, in the first quarter, up from $5.18 million, or 11 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
