City of Mackay, Idaho, Launches New Utility Payment Services

The City of Mackay, Idaho, launched two new services that allow customers to use credit and debit cards to make same-day payments, and schedule future utility payments.

Same-day payments are offered over the counter at the clerk’s office and online through the city’s website at mackayidaho-city.com, where city customers can also schedule future one-time and recurring payments.

“Our new payment services provide handy options for customers to pay their utility bills online, in person, or over the phone,” said Mackay City Clerk-Treasurer Suzanne Whitworth. “More and more people are using their bank cards to pay for all sorts of things, including utility bills.”

The city accepts any credit or debit card displaying a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo.

The city partnered with Boise-based Access Idaho to provide both payment processing services. The partnership operates under a self-funded model in which no tax dollars or state funds were used to develop the services, and none are necessary to maintain them.

The clerk’s office joins 54 other city departments in the state that use Access Idaho’s PayPort and/or Scheduled Payments services. In addition to payment processing, Access Idaho manages the state’s official Web portal, idaho.gov, and specializes in electronic government applications.
