Restaurants turn to Cloud Solutions

By: PRLog
Restaurants are increasingly adopting web-based systems for their back-office needs. And with the high failure rate of new restaurants, it's easy to see why.
Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- The capital outlay for traditional desktop-based software solutions, along with the effort required to maintain them, consumes valuable resources that can be better used for activities that support core business activities. Minimising the time and effort spent in the back-office, to focus on food production and customer service, is the key to the success for many restaurants.

Paul Clarke, CEO of Run-a-Restaurant, Restaurant Management Systems, says, "On-line software solutions such as Count-n-Control and Write-a-Recipe are ideal for operators opening a new restaurant. Internet-based systems reduce start-up capital and give restaurateurs anywhere/anytime access to their key performance indicators."

The increasing popularity of on-line accounting systems such as QuickBooks and Xero is starting to spread into industry specific solutions such as Run-a-Restaurant. Krys Canny-Smith from S.J. Canny, an Australian based accounting and business services firm, says, "We have a large number of clients changing to cloud software solutions. Generally the cloud software is more affordable, and as it isn’t necessary to have an on-site server with cloud based solutions significant working capital can be freed up."

Many restaurants have a wide spread of opening hours, and restaurateurs often rely on hired help to oversee their businesses. Internet-based systems make it easy to maintain visibility while not on-site. Paul Clarke went on to say, "A number of Run-a-Restaurant clients are multi-site operations with Area Managers that log-in regularly to monitor sales and stock usage."

With a fickle and ever-changing market, the restaurant industry will always be volatile. However, internet-based back-office systems are one way for restaurateurs to minimize the risk of failure.
