Wild Local TV Show Returns From 18-Month Hiatus with New Online Episodes
AUSTIN, Texas - Oct. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Fans of Austin music, comedy, burlesque, and improv are in for an entertaining surprise when Austin Variety Show returns after 18 months off the air. Austin’s Original television collective of the best, wildest, and most fun performers in town is back with new episodes every other week for the remainder of 2015. “The new shows will showcase better production values, more great talent, and a lot more laughs than we could legally put on broadcast television,” said the show’s producer and host Troy Dillinger.

Austin Variety Show’s three-year run on local broadcast station KBVO created 17 one-hour episodes which can still be seen at the show’s website, AustinVarietyShow.com. The show was the result of a metamorphosis originated via [austin swim], a weekly party for fans of cable television’s Adult Swim. “When my relationship with the network dissolved, I took the cartoons out of my event and added TV cameras, and Austin Variety Show was born,” added Dillinger.

The show’s fourth season will kick off with it’s 6th Anniversary Show (which is presented by PURE Bikram Yoga), and will be followed by episodes shot at the show’s former home in Highland Mall. The 6 new episodes will feature music by local artists including Not In The Face, Junior Brown, and Ashley Monical, as well as local comics Tom Booker, Mike MacRae, Ramin Nazer, Eric Krug, Ryan Cownie, radio personalities Charlie Hodge and Carissa McAtee, former Austinite Andy Ritchie, and Tom McCaffrey from Comedy Central. The new season will also feature Dillinger’s tribute to The Gong Show, and burlesque by some of Austin’s finest performers, as well as the show’s signature audience interactive game show.

“The show’s hiatus was to define a new business model that will allow us to operate as the brand for a theater facility, as with Austin City Limits,” said Dillinger. “We kept growing out of our theater spaces, so I had to begin the process of raising investor capital. The time off was worthwhile, and I think Austin Variety Show can now viably help support and present Austin talent for decades to come.”
