Cigna, USA TODAY to Present Health Care Forum in Washington, D.C.

Cigna and USA TODAY are joining forces to present “Building Healthier Communities” in Washington, D.C. on December 4, a two-hour forum that will explore ways to improve population health and reduce health care costs. The forum will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Newseum, and will feature remarks by Cigna President and CEO David M. Cordani about building a stronger, more sustainable health care system in the U.S.

Two panels of national experts will discuss the latest programs to improve public health, especially in urban areas like Washington, and ways to address cost challenges. Panelists will include Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association; Richard Hamburg, deputy director of the Trust for America’s Health; Rosanne Haggerty, president and CEO of Community Solutions, a Cigna Foundation World of Difference Grant recipient; and Dr. Karen DeSalvo, acting assistant secretary of health and national coordinator for health information technology In the Department of Health and Human Services.

Both panels will be moderated by leading USA TODAY health reporters Laura Ungar and Jayne O’Donnell. Welcome remarks will be provided by Beryl Love, editor of the USA TODAY network national news desk.
