Buffalo Wild Wings® (NASDAQ: BWLD) announced that 1,050 of its U.S. and Canadian-based restaurants, in partnership with Guests, raised $1,131,585 during its annual fundraising promotion in October – representing a 49% increase over last year. The donation will go towards grants to help fund sports teams and facility improvement projects in local Clubs, as part of the company’s Team Up for Kids® mission.
Throughout October, Guests had the ability to purchase paper pinups in restaurants for a minimum of $1 and could also donate by visiting www.buffalowildwings.com/giving. Local company-owned restaurants that raised the most donations via pinups included Duluth, MN, Spring, TX, and Lake Worth, TX and franchise restaurants were Grand Forks, ND, Culpeper, VA, and Wilmington, NC.
For the first time, Buffalo Wild Wings also donated $1 from each “Limited Time Only” bottle of Bourbon Honey Mustard and Ghost Pepper sauce sold in restaurants during September and October. More than $178,000 was generated as part of the fundraising promotion through the sale of the two sauces, which were brought back to restaurants through a Twitter vote among fans.
“We’d like to thank all of our loyal Guests who contributed to our fundraiser this year through our pinup program, online donations and sauce bottle sales,” said Mary Twinem, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Buffalo Wild Wings. “Each year our Guests rally around our Team Up for Kids mission, helping create new opportunities for local Boys & Girls Clubs in communities across the country and ultimately, giving more kids the opportunity to belong to a team,” stated Twinem.
Buffalo Wild Wings has committed to helping more than 100,000 kids play team sports by donating and raising more than $6 million for BGCA by 2017.
