For the week, the Dow gained 2.3%, the S&P added 1.7% and the Nasdaq increased 0.5%. That left the Dow down 5.5% for the month, or a loss of 959 points. The Nasdaq lost 7.9%, or 394 points in January, its largest monthly loss since May 2010.
