Feb. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- BARE® Air-free baby bottle works like a syringe with an “Air-plug®”, airtight piston that automatically moves when baby feeds, delivering air-free milk/formula and effectively preventing air ingestion, which is what causes gas, fuss and colic. The innovative design includes a self-adjusting Air-plug® (a watertight & airtight seal) that allows the air to expel out of the bottle before feeding, like a syringe. Once baby begins to feed, the Air-plug moves inside the bottle automatically, keeping the contents without air. This way, the milk chamber is always air-free. BARE works with suction, independent of gravity, allowing baby to feed in a natural upright position, which is recommended by pediatricians to prevent ear infections, painful gas, acid reflux symptoms and over-eating. It also promotes self-feeding and an easier transition to cups. BARE is made of FDA approved, BPA-free, durable, safe materials, and is user friendly and dishwasher safe.
“In an independent trial of 200 babies, we found that babies with diagnosed acid reflux and GERDS showed up to 95 percent of symptoms improved after feeding with BARE for a couple of days. Some babies were even taken off the GERDS medication prescribed by their doctors,” says Diaz.
The Perfe-latch® nipple is specially designed to support and promote breastfeeding. The short tip motivates baby to create a deep/wide latch onto the areola part of the nipple. Once a seal is established and baby initiates suction, the short nipple extends inside the baby’s mouth, just like mom's. Perfe-latch features Flow-Control technology that includes different size orifices on its tip to dispense different flow rates controlled by the baby’s sucking strength. With weaker suction (i.e., a newborn), only one of the orifices dispenses. With stronger suction (i.e., a 10-month-old baby or a very hungry newborn), all the orifices dispense at the same time. The baby’s suction patterns vary not only with age, but even within the same day; a hungry baby creates stronger suction than one that has just fed. Similarly, BARE doesn’t dispense when there’s no suction, to prevent overfeeding.
In the same trial mentioned above, we found that babies who were never able to breastfeed (due to numerous issues such as mom’s low milk supply, poor latching, nipple confusion, etc.) learned to latch on the breast after using BARE with Perfe-latch nipples and were able to reinstate breastfeeding even after three to four months.
Bittylab did a proof-of-concept/market test in late 2013 and sold out of its entire inventory of 10 thousand bottles in only a few months via online sales. In late 2015, Bittylab improved the technology by designing a silicone Air-plug and extending its line from two products to ten.
