Market Update: The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) – French consumer group warns on potential risks of beauty products

[Reuters] – Some creams, shampoos, after-shaves and toothpastes made by groups such as L’Oreal and Procter & Gamble, may contain potentially harmful substances, according to a study by French consumer protection group UFC-Que Choisir. UFC-Que Choisir on Monday published a list of 185 products it said contained substances that were legal , but could cause allergies, irritations or endocrinal disorders. “In light of the absence of suitable European regulation, we want to put pressure on manufacturers through consumers’ purchasing behaviour,” said Olivier Andrault, who ran the study for UFC-Que Choisir. Today, shares have traded between $81.71 and $82.67 per share with the price of the stock fluctuating between $65.02 to $85.80 over the last 52 weeks. Priced at 22.53x this year’s forecasted earnings, PG shares are relatively expensive compared to the industry ’s 16.03x forward p/e ratio. And for passive income investors, the company pays shareholders $2.65 per share annually in dividends, yielding 3.24%. According to a consensus of 22 analysts, the earnings estimate of $0.82 per share would be $0.07 worse than the year-ago quarter and a $0.10 sequential decrease. The full-year EPS estimate is $3.63 which would be a $0.13 worse than last year’s full-year earnings. The quarterly earnings estimate is predicated on a consensus revenue forecast of $15.93 Billion. If reported, that would be a 12.18% decrease over the year-ago quarter. Recently, Sterne Agee CRT upgraded PG from Neutral to Buy (Feb 16, 2016). Previously, Stifel upgraded PG from Hold to Buy.
