Commonwealth Motors 25th Anniversary

By: PRLog
LAWRENCE, Mass. - June 7, 2016 - PRLog -- On June 6, 1991, Charlie Daher opened Commonwealth Motors. The then defunct dealership was hit hard by the economic collapse of the early 90s and was subsequently taken over by the then Bank of New England.

Daher struck a deal with Bank of New England only to see it taken over by the F.D.I.C. days before the scheduled transfer date. Through sheer perseverance and with a little luck sprinkled in Daher was able to finalize a deal with the F.D.I.C. and the rest, they say, is history. From the day the dealership opened it dramatically moved up the sales ranks of the franchises it represented.

Daher with a dedicated staff of Employees was joined by his children in running the business as they graduated from college. When he took over the dealership there were approximately 20 employees. Fast forward to 2016 and Commonwealth Motors now employs over 320 team members with approximately 80 of them residents of Lawrence, one of Massachusetts' most depressed cities.

Charlie was born and raised in Lawrence and was brought up approximately ¼ mile from the dealership. He has always been proud of his Lawrence roots and the Daher family continuously makes donations to dozens of local organizations, nonprofits & local schools.

For example, Commonwealth Motors and the Daher family are the proud sponsors of the Commonwealth Motors Christmas Basketball classic which hosts 16 local boys' & girls' high school teams where a $1000 scholarship is awarded to a player on each team.

Fast forward again to 2016 and you find Commonwealth Motors is a true family run dealership. Charlie, his wife Liz and their children Melissa Taylor, Kimberly Millman, Allison Belliveau & Charles Daher III along with their spouses are all actively involved in the business.

Commonwealth Motors with five franchises, Chevrolet, Honda, Kia, Volkswagen & Nissan, located on a 30+ acre campus adjacent to Rte. 495 at exit 45 in Lawrence, is truly one of New England's premier automobile dealerships, and as Charlie has said for 25 years now,

"Shop Us Last … You'll Love Us!"
