Northern Trust Wins CIO 100 Award

Northern Trust has been named as a recipient of the 2016 CIO 100, an annual award program recognizing organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

Northern Trust was recognized for a client servicing analytics application that presents data through interactive visual dashboards. These dashboards sit on top of cross-functional data sourced from across the enterprise and organized in a performance management warehouse. The application was designed to allow executives to quickly obtain a 360-degree view of their business while also providing deeper insights into internal and external factors driving growth and profitability.

The dashboard includes distinctive features such as:

  • A single “pane of glass” for cross-functional data, which helps ensure accurate information is pulled from the correct source(s), within the correct business context, and delivered in one place to the appropriate audience.
  • Streamlined delivery of actionable data, providing information through a fully automated process characterized by its utility in making time sensitive decisions.
  • An agile and adaptive user interface, delivering information through purposefully-built multi-channel dashboards, with advanced interactive visualizations, and collaborative capabilities designed to enable quicker insights.

"Delivering innovation and business value are top priorities for Chief Information Officers everywhere, and our CIO 100 awards program celebrates the leading IT organizations that excel at both," said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO Events. "Our 2016 winners are raising the bar even higher this year with their outstanding work in digital transformation, customer focus and IT-business collaboration."

“We are proud of this recognition from CIO, which speaks volumes about the strength of our technology team and solutions,” said Scott Murray, Chief Technology Officer at Northern Trust. “Not only does the innovative dashboard empower our leadership team to make better strategic decisions, but it ultimately helps us serve our clients more effectively. Northern Trust’s technology team consistently examines options to improve our operations and positively impact our strategic goals.”

Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at The CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, August 16th, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

About the CIO 100

Recipients of this year's CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' evaluations and selected the final 100.

Coverage of the 2016 CIO 100 Awards will be available online at CIO.com on August 1, 2016, and in the August issue of CIO's digital magazine.
