Alabama Adds Online Pre-Filing Options for Domestic Business Entities

Alabama Interactive, in collaboration with the Alabama Secretary of State, has recently added pre-filing options for the following business types:

  • domestic limited partnership (LP)
  • domestic limited liability partnership (LLP)
  • domestic limited liability limited partnership (LLLP)
  • domestic corporation
  • domestic non-profit corporation

The new domestic pre-filing options allow the Secretary of State’s Business Services Division to significantly cut down processing time and improve the efficiency of business filings for domestic business entities as well as encourage the growth of business in Alabama.

“Until counties begin their participation of online filing, the Secretary of State’s Office is pleased to provide and expand pre-filing of many domestic entities to encourage the growth, development, and success of businesses in Alabama,” said Secretary John Merrill. “Once all documents have been submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office, the new pre-filing option will enable the filer to view the filing on our website much faster than the traditional paper method.”

The new online system allows users to not only complete a pre-filing, but also a name reservation (if not previously applied for) all in one transaction, reducing both time and complexity for users. Another significant improvement is the ability for the Secretary of State’s office to populate data from the stored pre-file data. This speeds up the filing process when the filing is forwarded from the county probate office to the Secretary of State.
